Description: Quintek Measurement Systems introduces our revolutionary new Layer Thickness Swell system (QLTS). Based on the latest patented optical technology, the QLTS will identify the precise thickness swell of each layer within a composite panel after soaking. The technique is applicable to OSB, MDF, and PB made from wood, wheat straw, rice straw, and other materials.
The Layer Thickness Swell System consists of a precise marking system that marks individual layers on the 4 edges of 6” square soak test sample, a digital imaging system, and proprietary QMS developed image recognition system to automatically locate the markings and to compare the width of each marked layer before and after soaking. The system computes and reports the swelling in each individual layer. User defined zones may be setup to calculate automatically calculate swelling in face layers or the core or other user defined locations.
The Layer Thickness Swell System is designed for use both in production composite board plants and in research laboratories. The QLTS is designed and constructed to withstand the rigors of a production plant technical lab and 24 hour production schedules. The QLTS is designed to require a minimum of input from the operator. The QLTS can quickly identify swelling within a panel and determine, for instance, if excess swelling is occurring in the face, the core, or in the intermediate areas within a panel.
The Layer Thickness Swell System offers many features that make it an extremely versatile laboratory analysis system. Samples may be measured at different soak times and the data stored and plotted against time. Samples may be measured again after re-drying and the data included. Multiple samples may be measured and average thickness swell computed. Samples are archived.
